Description of location :
A river named Dood Kharganatiin Gol is fenced by two low mountains which are covered in sparsely grown trees. The site is located on a river split which is pushed from the east of Ider River. Our team is not informed of any worshiped place or landmark. The area where the site is located is occupied by locals who migrate to it only during winter as the area gets plenty of snow during winter and not much drinking water during summer. During summer some herders move to the shoreline of Ideriin Gol passed Kharganat and some herders move to the northern shoreline of Kharganat river.

Status of site at time of survey :
On the site are about 19 storage houses or as locals call them, “Ukher Punznuudd” and amidst these storage houses are 3 square buildings which were from the Kharganat Monastery. These buildings are still used by the locals to store goods. Before our visit to the site, we were told by the local seniors that there are a few buildings which look different from the storage houses. We confirmed this during our visit. The building materials are not recycled from other buildings and can be differentiated from the storage houses because of their design, size, execution, color and look. It is also clear that these buildings did not use any nails and the windows, the door and the roof are unusually designed. The roof is made from two layers of wood and outside the house are sparsely grown lichens. We did not see this plant at the site where the storage houses were found. The lichen plant indicates that the building from the 2nd site was built many years ago. Also between the two sites are antique remnants: a dirt base of a wrecked building, an iron-cast cauldron, components of a horse-cart and a post where a horse is tied. Unfortunately, we were not able to obtain more information about this site.

Site used for other purpose :
The 1st site’s storage houses are now being used by the local residents.

Notes :
1. There were previously two streams called Upper and Lower which used to join the Ideriin River from both sides. These rivers come from Tosontsengel sum (formerly known as Bulnai) in Zavkhan province. The two streams are now dried up. Passed Deed Kharganatiin River, about 25 km. from the sum centre, is Dood Kharganat’s mouth. About 10 km. upstream is the site area called Kharganatiin Khuree. The locals call this Khuree (The Monastic city). It is recorded as an assembly hall in B. Rinchen’s list. 7. It is impossible to come up with the exact dimensions of this historic site. Based on rough measurement which includes remaining building and base, it is covers about 500 m area in all directions.
